Feds invest $47-million into Port of Halifax
In an announcement on Sunday, Federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau offered up half the cost for an improvement program for the Port of Halifax — about $47.5 million. The $100-million project is two-fold and will increase storage capacity at the port by connecting the South End Container Terminal to the Fairview Cove Container Terminal via an existing rail line, which will help reduce the number of container trucks that pass through Halifax’s downtown.
