Volta bestows ecosystem awards on Atlantic Canadian startup supporters
The Halifax startup hub Volta gave out their Ecosystem Impact Awards last week to acknowledge the winners’ work helping Atlantic Canadian startups. Yarmouth’s Ignite Labs were given the Catalyst Award for their work growing the technology, ocean and tourism sectors in Southwestern Nova Scotia, while Halifax’s Square Roots got the Positive Impact Award for their work with farmers. Build Ventures, a VC firm based in Halifax, took home the Community Leader Award for their investment in 14 different companies, McInnes Cooper was awarded the Corporate Supporter Award for their continuing presence in different startup organizations and SomaDetect in Fredericton got the Disruptor Award for their work in the dairy industry.
